It looks like Wall Street took the month of August off completely. Volumes were even lower than expected. With so little movement in the market and such limited alternatives, I'm inclined to stay with the C Fund at 100%. There are a couple of items to note: The G Fund, or as I like to call it, what I uses as the risk free rate, monthly average return dropped a percentage point to 0.16% with an August performance of 0.13%. It is no secret that I detest the G Fund. I will never put my money in it as it is really a negative rate of return, and the upside is so limited that there is never even a prospect for a large return. The F Fund was the only negative fund this month, and I really do think that is a result of the summer season and professional traders taking time off. However, there are a few items to note going forward. 1) It's election season - where we land is anyone's guess. 2) The Jackson Hole Fed summit indicated a possible rate increase - has the market already priced it in? 3) The smart money has been burned so badly this year, they may be staying on the sidelines until they determine the direction of the market. I?m resolute in staying in the C Fund. Happy Trading!
