With all of my investments in the C Fund this month, I enjoyed a nice 1.9% return. Unfortunately we are down a decent amount from the 25th when the rally took us past Dow 20k. There was obviously a bit of profit taking after it was hit and there is speculation that the rally leading up to Dow 20k will begin to taper as it has in years past when the post round number benchmark has been achieved. The market is not always logical as humans tend to let a bit of emotion into their decisions. We are also seeing the optimisum of the impending Trump tax cuts be tempered by the dread of the possible continuous and disruptive protesting we have seen (in my case, first hand in San Diego this weekend) around the country. With an unbiased view, my system is seeming to favor both the C and the S Fund in almost equal amounts. The increased returns of the S Fund outweigh its higher standard deviation while the C Fund has proven to tbe a steady earner, even if it is not always the highest performing fund. Finally, although the I Fund had a very good month, it is still too risky with lower average returns to be a serious investment at this time. BL: increase your investment percentages for the new year, keep a long-term view, and if you are in the BRS, learn about its benefits and drawbacks.
