January is in the books. It was a fantastic month for the TSP Funds. The C Fund had its 12th best month since 2004 and the best January since I started my system in 2004. With all of that said, you will notice I am reducing my allocation of the C Fund to just 5%. While I am still bullish on the C Fund and the market in general, my system sees a higher risk with possibly lower returns for the C Fund, which is what my system tries to mitigate. It is also important to note the negative return of the F Fund for January. While not perfectly correlated to highly positive returns in the C, S, and I Funds, it does point to confidence in the stock market. I would however temper this with the recent upward move of the bond yields at the end of the month, and February may not perform nearly as well as January. We had a record month for new subscribers, and for them, I would like to reiterate my plan never invests in the G Fund and only invests in the F Fund when I have strong indications of the C, S, and I Funds turning negative.
