I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We had a very strong month with very positive returns for both the C and S Fund. Performance in these funds continues to be driven by external international events and internal Federal Reserve actions, in addition to continued strong performance of the US economy. GDP was revised upwards to 2.1% this week, not incredibly strong, but the US economy has remained very consistent. In the final month of 2019, I am changing my investments, both my monthly allocation and my current investments (as always) to 67% in the C Fund and 33% in the I Fund. There are several factors driving this change. First, the I Fund has been quite stable for the past year, despite the number of upheavals in the international market. Second, Brexit, which is very dependent on elections in the UK looks to be very promising for the Conservative, or Tories. A win for Boris Johnson will finally complete Brexit, and much of the uncertainty of the markets will be resolved. A bit about the I Fund in general. The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board has decided to keep with its plan to switch the I Fund to the MSCI World ex USA IMI, which invests in China. I oppose this decision. I am not comfortable with investments in a country that routinely violates international law, commits abuses against its citizens, destroys the environment, and is just an all-around bad actor. While I have not made a final determination on my continued investment should the changes occur, I will continue to press our representatives to fight this change. Keep investing!
