One more month in the books and another month without any resolutions to the major financial issues of the past 3 years. We find ourselves on the brink of having a decade without a recession, something that has never occurred in modern times in the US. While the GDP is down and trends are showing a slowing economy, the textbook definition of a recession, two consecutive quarters of negative growth, still seems a long way off. The financial markets look to be driven by company earnings, the most positive of which was Apple's this week. Many other technology stocks and health industry stock have also been up a great deal this month with positive earnings. Whatever the impact the trade war is having on the stock market, these companies are finding a way to still remain profitable. Linked to the performance of these companies is the I Fund, which was up this month at 3.60%. The optimism of a US-China trade war is bolstering stocks in the Asia-Pacific realm, excluding China of course. While Brexit is still a mess, as I have stated before, it has been priced into the market, and so while it will remain a nuisance, it should not overly impact either the C or S Fund. Despite the increase in the I Fund, I am still squarely in the C Fund for the next month. While the economy could be better, positive earnings should produce solid returns. Keep investing!
