Most of my subscribers would probably think I am more bullish than bearish-that is probably a good trait to have and speaks about my outlook on life, generally. However, we are in uncertain times right now. If I am uncertain about the current investment climate, I'm sure many others are too. The perspective I'm taking this month is one of letting others take the risk when absolutely no one can predict the market swings that will accompany the stock market in the coming months. I am under no illusion of making a significant return on the C, S or I Fund for probably the rest of the year. As it stands, I am at 10.2% for the year, which by all accounts is incredibly strong given the absolute disaster 2020 has been. I do not think a market rally of any significance will occur between now and November, and as such I am remaining 100% in the F Fund. However, I do think there is a greater than average probability of a market decline for the next month, and I choose not to risk the returns I have made this year. While the F Fund does have some downside risk, it is not nearly as significant as the risk posed by the C, S and the I Funds. For those of you who made the C to F Fund trade on the first of this month, you should have seen enough of a return to offset the losses of the F Fund for the rest of the month, resulting in a net return of 0.52% for my portfolio. I do think the underlying economy is coming back to life and the fundamentals of many industries remain strong, but the human aspect of the stock market provides too much risk for me to invest in anything other than the F Fund. Keep investing!
